Lotus Charging Curve
Our friends at Fastned are the kind of EV data nerds that we love! They constantly track their chargers for any interesting charging curves, and this time they spotted an EV rarity: A Lotus Emeya EV!

Lotus Emeya, Source: Lotus
This fully-electric Hypercar starts at $100,000+ and apparently it’s an absolut charging monster! Look at this charging curve at a 400kW Alpitronic charger:
According to Fastned the peak charging rate can go up to 420kW! So we’re actually not even seeing the full, unrestricted charging curve here….
To the best of our knowledge, the Lotus Emeya now seems to be the fastest-charging EV available outside of China (by peak charging power). Let us know in the comments if you disagree!
That reminds us of this great XPENG ad shared by our buddy Felix:
Now I wonder, why are the Europeans not making ads like this (FOR YEARS!)

⚡️⚡️⚡️thanks #XPENG (FRANCE?!) this is how we roll!

Poll Results: Should countries like Mexico welcome Chinese EVs or protect their domestic market?🇲🇽
In our latest poll, we explored a timely and controversial question:
Should countries without a strong domestic car industry—like Mexico—remain open to Chinese electric vehicles, or adopt protectionist measures to align with U.S. and EU tariffs?
🗳 Poll Results: Here’s how our community responded:
✅ Yes (9 votes) – The shift to electric transportation provides wide-reaching societal benefits and shouldn't be delayed by trade politics.
❌ No (4 votes) – Democratic nations should be cautious about depending on critical technologies from authoritarian regimes like China.
✍️ Top Comments from the Pro-Openness Side: Some of the most thoughtful arguments came from those advocating for staying open to Chinese EVs:
“This technology is going to be developed, and there is an opportunity for knowledge sharing and partnerships at this point.”
“We would never get better at EVs, if we don't compete with the best, in this case Chinese EVs Mexican engineers will get better this way and hopefully soon we will have a fully domestic brand that can compete with China - if you see the Mexican government impor substitution plan, you can see the building blocks for it.”
Thanks to everyone who took part! 👏 Stay tuned for more questions that spark the EV debate.

Smart Charging at Public Chargers - is it smart?🧠: You might be familiar with Smart Charging/Scheduled Charging and load shifting at home. But have you ever ever seen a company offer you money for delaying your public charging session? This exact concept is currently being piloted in Amsterdam and the first results are very promising! You can learn more about Deftpower and it’s V1G ambitions in our Guest post edition ⚡Why the MSP is going to be the King of Smart Charging 👑
Battery Swapping in China - stop trying to make fetch happen?💁♀️: Battery Swapping is really on trend in China. CATL came up with a standardized swappable battery platorm (“ChocoSEB”) which just had its debut in 1000 taxis made by Changan Automotive. For this roll-out CATL is building 50 compatible swap stations by end of the year. But CATL’s ambitions are much broader than this: Up to 10 vehicle models from different brands are set to launch with Choco-batteries by end of the year, accompanied by up to 1000 compatible swap stations across China before end of 2025. Meanwhile over in the West auto makers are so against swapping, you migh think they’re trying to stop it from becoming a thing..
Large-Scale V2G Project by VW in Sweden🫎: Mandfred Przybilla, CEO of DC V2G charger manufacturer Ambibox, explained on LinkedIn that after more than a year of testing, the project partners Volkswagen, Vattenfall (swedish utility), Energybank (V2G aggregator) and Ambibox have decided to launch a large-scale V2G pilot. The pilot will include 200 companies and private customers in Sweden, leveraging Volkswagen’s MEB-based ID. models with 77 kWh batteries that have been SW-enabled for V2G discharging.
