EV Startup Funding News 📈

Guess what day it is? It's our monthly Money Monday 🤑(just a day late)  - Here's who secured the bag 💰 and which startups you should keep an eye on 👀:

  • German V2G startup TheMobilityHouse gained a new strategic investor in German utility Rheinenergie (Link)

  • US startup Envirospark raised a $50m round from infrastructure equity investment firm Basalt Infrastructure Partners (Link)

  • German CPO Qwello acquired Dutch charging provider Park&Charge, growing its pan-European network to 12,000+ charging points (Link)

  • German startup Reev raises a 10M EUR Series A from Future Energy Venturs for it’s OCPP SaaS solution (Link)

  • Fronyx, a German startup focusing on Gen AI for EV charging, raised funding from German venture investor NextMobilityLabs (Link)

  • OrangeCharger, a US-based startup offering smart 120V/240V outlets for multi-family charging raised a $6.5m Seed round led by Munich Re Venturs (Link)

  • EV-Box for sale 💰: Engie’s Q1 report revealed that the company is looking for a buyer for its investment in charger manufactuer EV-Box. French utility Engie bought Dutch startup EV-Box back in 2017. During the EV SPAC craze of 2021 the company was set to go public, but the transaction never ended up materializing and was abandoned in 2023. In it’s 2023 annual report Engie reveals that it is not only looking for a buyer, but “actively examining all options that could lead to disengage”. Sound like someone REALLY doesn’t want to be in the EV charger business anymore 🫠(Link to Q1 report, page 5)

  • Easee is off the hook 🥵: For the last 1,5 years foreign charging station manufacturer Easee needed to defend the security of its product (we reported). Now it looks like the company officially redeemed itself and was able to get sign-off from TUV for its product (Link)

  • Tesla V4 got OCPP2.0.1 certified 🔌: Within the Open Charge Alliance certified products, Tesla V4 Superchargers for EU & NA are listed as OCPP 2.0.1. verified. The registration was made on 29 February 2024, and we expect Tesla to provide full interoperability of its chargers with any other charge point management system (likely this was a prerequisite for the deals with EG and BP - we reported in Tesla V4 Supercharger Insights 🧐 ).

Most-clicked link last week: Was the link to Rabotcharge’s article on dynamic grid pricing (Link in German, last week’s article)
